Emera contributes to Junior Achievement
$200,000 gift over four years!
Nov 20, 2009 - Emera and Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia: Continued commitment to entrepreneurship and learning.

We’ve all heard the expression “put your money where your mouth is.” Through its partnership with Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia, Emera is doing just that.

Emera recently extended its commitment to Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia to the year 2011, bringing their four-year financial pledge to $200,000 while supporting this with volunteers from the organization.

“More than 300 Emera employees have volunteered with Junior Achievement over the past three years. Clearly we see the value in the programs JA delivers to students across Nova Scotia,” says Chris Huskilson, President and CEO, Emera Inc. “I am proud of our employee commitment to the organization.”

“Having volunteers in the schools is as important as financial support,” says Lynn Coveyduck, President and CEO, Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia. “All our programs are delivered by volunteers from the community. If we didn’t have them, we couldn’t reach the more than 13,000 students we do every year. Emera and its employees bring lessons about financial literacy and workforce readiness to help make students productive members of our communities.”
